Photogrammetry: Cannon at Camp George West.

by DierveK

A photogrammetry scan from Camp George West in Golden Colorado. There was no editing in any external 3D program so another raw scan. I’m still getting my sea legs with photogrammetry and I think the results are better than my first photo scan of the smaller older cannon https://skfb.ly/68trH . Don’t know what type of cannon this is?

Whiteboard Sketch #5

New whiteboard sketch, I would like to model this one if I had the free time. Messed up on the hand holding the scissors, you don’t hold scissors like that.

The Mood Gun

Over the past few months in the Modo forums there have been some incredibly talented artist who have been showing off the new MOP Boolean plugin. Seeing all the cool guns motivated me into joining in on the fun. So I mad this using the MOP Boolean plugin in Modo 11.1 and this is my entry into the MOP Boolean Gun Club.

For this gun the concept was simple. To make a smaller, sleeker, sexier and a little silly looking kind of a futuristic Walther PPK sized gun (granted it looks nothing like the PPK). Something that an assassin could use in say a futuristic Kill Bill 3. The Mood Gun is considerably dangerous yet none lethal. Various setting allow the user to alter or enhance the mood of a subject.

Some nice comments over in reddit’s Imaginary Technology subreddit!

Boom! Lost a year and a half of data.

Back up your server files often people!
Lost comments and other fun stuff. YAY!
I’ll try to re-post the lost continent as I remember it.
Previous links will be broken and the posting order maybe incorrect from Feb 2016 to Oct 2017.

Whiteboard Sketch #4

I try to sketch something new on an unused whiteboard every week. I’ll try to upload the ones I find interesting. This one was inspired by a recent camping trip to Ghost Ranch New Mexico and visit to Meow Wolf.

Modo-dog action figure first MOP Booleans experiment

First MOP Booleans experiment. I wanted to see how difficult it would be to create points of articulation on a solid model for 3D printing. Turns out it’s quite simple after you create articulation cut pieces.

Photogrammetry: Building at Camp George West

by DierveK

A photogrammetry scan from Camp George West in Golden Colorado. This time of a small building. No editing in any external 3D program. For this I was testing Reality Captures point cloud optimization. Went from over 1.1M faces to 100k faces. There is some noticeable loss of resolution at 100k if you zoom in close enough but other than that not too bad. It would be a nice if you could highlight the areas that you would like more detail in Reality Capture.
Here are some other scans from Camp George West. Cannon at Camp George West v1 test The Other Cannon at Camp George West
